Bindu Bala Roy (Founder)
Bindu Bala is commonly referred as the ‘People’s Grandmother’ in her native village, Basulia, as well as areas around it. Starting off as a young village girl in colonial India, she had no schooling or inheritance, was widowed as a teenager and forced to fend for herself and her young children- certainly it had not been an easy start for her. However, through her sheer will and rock-solid principles, she has not only taken care of her own family, but has also made exemplary contributions in turning around the lives of others for the better. An army of successful professionals, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers, and modern farmers are in debt to her for empowering and supporting them to reach their true potential. Throughout her life, she has been a tough act to match. Even now, Bindu, a nonagenarian, starts her day at 4 am, and is fully hands-on with multiple projects that she personally oversees and participates in. She is the key source of inspiration, vision and direction for the foundation.
